Meet The Team
With over 30 years of experience in the floristry industry, Bonnie McGowan is the creative force and heart behind Flowers by Bonnie. As an award-winning florist, Bonnie has dedicated her career to sourcing, designing, and delivering breathtaking floral arrangements for weddings, funerals, corporate events, and more. Based in Grafton, Bonnie has built a locally-loved and highly regarded florist studio that has served communities from Coffs Harbour to Yamba for over a decade.
Bonnie’s passion for her craft is reflected in her many accolades, including awards from the Daily Examiner Clarence Valley Business Excellence Awards and the Coffs Harbour Chamber of Commerce. With qualifications in Floristry, Leadership, and Business Management, Bonnie combines creative vision with a strong business acumen to ensure Flowers by Bonnie stays at the forefront of modern and sustainable floral design trends.
When she’s not creating stunning floral arrangements, Bonnie enjoys gardening, spending time at the beach, and relaxing with her two children and adorable pets, Maxi and Smokey. She treasures family, friends, and nature, values that inspire every creation at Flowers by Bonnie.
Hope Simmons is a senior florist at Flowers by Bonnie, with nine years of experience creating bespoke floral arrangements for weddings, funerals, and special occasions. Starting her journey as a trainee in 2015, Hope completed her Certificate III in Floristry in 2018 and has been an integral part of the Flowers by Bonnie team ever since.
Specialising in dried, preserved, and fresh floral designs, Hope is passionate about creating on-trend, custom arrangements that reflect the unique style of each customer. She also leads the studio’s website and social media maintenance, oversees stock ordering, and champions sustainable floristry practices by minimising plastics and using eco-friendly materials.
Outside of work, Hope spends most of her time at sporting events with her three young boys. When not at the game, you’ll find her camping, fishing, or relaxing at the beach with family and friends. Her creativity, dedication, and love for floristry make her an invaluable part of the Flowers by Bonnie team.
As a junior florist at Flowers by Bonnie, Mia Torrens brings fresh talent and enthusiasm to the team. After completing her Certificate II in Floristry, Mia is currently working towards her Certificate III, which will make her a fully qualified florist by the end of 2024. Her passion for floristry is evident in her ability to create custom, on-trend dried and preserved floral arrangements, as well as stunning designs with fresh flowers.
Mia is dedicated to sustainable floristry, embracing eco-friendly practices like bamboo wraps and reusable ceramics to reduce plastic waste. She prides herself on staying up-to-date with the latest trends, ensuring every arrangement is modern and unique.
When not at work, Mia enjoys spending time with family and friends at social events or beach gatherings. A nature lover at heart, she can often be found surfing, picnicking by the sea, or camping on weekends. Mia’s creativity and drive make her a rising star in the world of floristry.
